Niv

Niv Melamed is a performer, choreographer, teacher in the contemporary dance and theatre field, and an educator, mentor, and facilitator. He is fascinated by the human mind body connection, and is passionate about creating experiences for people to reflect, move, connect, and grow.

Dance and Movment

With a background in Capoeira, acting, and dance Niv studied contemporary dance at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (Salzburg). Soon after Niv joined the “Johannes Wieland Dance Company” of Staatstheater Kassel (DE), where he collaborated with choreographers Faust-prize nominated choreographer Johannes Wieland (DE), Maxine Doyle (Punchdrunk ; UK), Lenka Vagnerová (CZ) among others. As a freelancer he worked with Reut Shemesh (IL), Evangelos Poulinas (GR) and others on stage, as well as in the film and TV industry with Tom Tykwer and Julia Fidel (Babylon Berlin) and Chad Stahelski (John Wick).

Educator and Teacher

Niv is an enthusiastic teacher in dance academies in Germany and internationally, and teaches professionals in dance companies. His education work is activistic, by creating a demanding and caring space for professionals to excel while practicing self-care. Niv volunteers in the German performing arts union (GDBA r.V.) and the dancer activist lobby- dancersconnect e.V. as a workshop facilitator and a research affiliate to advocate for dancers rights and well-being.

Niv develops and leads workshops and panels for artists on burning topics in the field. The aim is to initiate dialogue and generate connection, thought, and action in our ever-changing world.

As part of his educational work, he devises and leads workshops in the topics of movement, expression, and emotional processing through the body.

Public-Speaking and Mentorship

Niv is a moderator, workshop facilitator and an experienced public-speaker. He offers 1-on-1 mentoring and workshops on story-telling, stage movements, and speech writing. Niv is an active member of the First Berlin Toastmasters Club.
